Movers & Shakers: MCSS hires self-storage exec as managing partner & more

Self-storage developer MCSS Development & Investment LLC hired Daniel Weinstein as managing partner. Weinstein will work with MCSS founders Jay Massirman, Steve Garchik and Steve McBride on expanding the company. He was previously founder and managing partner of Urban Storage Fund, and before that was U.S. acquisitions manager for Public Storage.

Parkway Property Investments launched Parkway Real Estate Services, led by John Guitar and Phil Marchese.

The new company will handle leasing, development, asset management and property management services throughout Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas and Washington, D.C. Guitar and Marchese were previously with Blanca Commercial Real Estate, and before that with Florida East Coast Industries.
Jacquie Gallardo joined Engel & Völkers as a real estate adviser. Gallardo’s team, which focuses on Key Biscayne, includes Gabriela Gallardo, Alessandro Mion and Paulette Monserrate-Schena.

Aida Sanchez-Gomez joined Stantec as senior architect in its Miami office. She’s worked on projects that include the Related Group’s Paraiso District in Edgewater, 57 Ocean in Miami Beach and Summerhill in Coconut Grove.

KAR Properties and Fortune Development Sales named Leslie Clark as a sales executive for 2000 Ocean in Hallandale Beach. Fortune is handling sales in Florida, while Core Real Estate is doing the same in New York. Clark was previously with Adache Real Estate.

Greenberg Traurig brought on Mark Tobin from Akerman LLP. Tobin is part of Greenberg Traurig’s litigation practice and real estate practice.

Steven J. Wernick, previously a partner at Akerman, launched his own law firm at 89 Northeast 27th Street in Wynwood. He’s worked on projects in the neighborhood that include the Wynwood Garage, 250 Wynwood, Wynwood 25 and Cube Wynwd. Wernick said that it made sense to branch out on his own so that he can “take on some of these opportunities and be more hands on with these projects, as well.”

Berger Commercial Realty/CORFAC International, hired Whitney Stark as a senior property manager. She previously worked for the Sterling Organization in West Palm Beach, where she was a retail property manager.

Will Falero joined Colliers International South Florida as director of industrial services, based in the brokerage’s Miami office. He was associate director at Casal Group.

JAG Insurance Group hired Leo Portes as chief insurance officer. Portes was most recently claims advocacy senior lead at Alliant Insurance Services.
