Your Mama’s Notes: Word on the New York City celebrity real estate street is that exceptionally compensated Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen and lucratively employed professional pigskin tosser Tom Brady plan to trade their approximately 3,300-square-foot luxury condo at the supermodel slender One Madison tower in New York City’s Flatiron ‘hood for bigger digs in a not yet completed apartment house going up at 70 Vestry Street in the trendy and exceedingly spendy Tribeca nabe. So the story goes in the New York Post, the unfairly comely mega-rich couple — she hauled in an estimated $30.5 million from June 2015 to June 2016 according to Forbes and he just inked a four year deal with the New England Patriots worth $60 million — have agreed to shell out more than $20 million for an approximately 5,000-square-foot apartment on a high floor of a 14-story, Robert A.M. Stern designed building that will be clad in elegantly somber French limestone and overlook the Hudson River.
Details of the suburban mini-mansion-sized apartment are somewhat slim but it’s reported to have five bedrooms, a “sprawling terrace,” and “stunning views of Manhattan.” The Brady-Bündchens, who can’t move in until sometime in early 2018 when the new building is scheduled to be ready for occupancy, were attracted to the building, again according to the always impeccably informed property gossip at the New York Post, by the privacy afforded residents who will be able enter the building by driving, or being driven, through a gated and sentry-guarded porte-cochere and in to a cobblestone paved motor court that’s all but hidden from the street. Residents will enter the building itself through a double-height lobby finished with flat-cut oak paneling and will have exclusive access to extensive athletic and recreation facilities that include an 82-foot-long indoor lap pool, separate children’s pool along with hot and cold plunge pools, a regulation squash court, and cycling, yoga and pilates studios. Other deluxe creature comforts for which residents will pay dearly via sky-high monthly common charges include a café, library, billiards room, and private dining suite with adjoining lounge.
The cat walker and the quarterback were widely reported in all the New York City property gossip columns to have purchased their aforementioned full-floor pied-a-terre at One Madison in the fall of 2013 for, according to property records we peeped, $13,370,000 and just over a year later the four-bedroom and 4.5 bathroom aerie was also widely reported to be available for as a luxury lease at $40,000 per month unfurnished and $42,500 per month furnished. Miz Bündchen, who will be fake, not to mention bizarrely “assaulted and robbed” in the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro later this week, previously owned a West Village triplex penthouse she sold in 2009 for $4.4 million and Mister Brady previously owned a 74th-floor condo at the Time Warner Center at the southwest corner of Central Park that was bought in 2006 for $14 million and sold in the spring of 2011 for $17.5 million. The Brady-Bündchens also owned and occupied a triplex penthouse in a boutique building in Boston’s swanky Back Bay that was sold in mid-2012 for $9.2 million and in May 2014 they unloaded their 18,000-plus-square-foot custom-built faux-chateau in a guard-gated enclave in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles to rapper/producer turned earphones mega-mogul Dr. Dre for $40 million.
The couple’s primary residence nowadays is a stately mansion they custom-built on 5.2 acres wedged between Pine Manor College and The Country Club in Brookline in the upscale Chestnut Hill community. The stone-faced manor house has been reported to measure 14,371-square-feet and feature five bedrooms including a master suite with his-and-her closets plus a nursery and guest quarters over the garage, a yoga studio, chef’s kitchen with pantry and sunroom, wine cellar, and library with balcony that overlooks the gym.
