Warm Up With New York: Roxana Rafatjah

Roxana Aire - The Thread

With beautifully mild fall days a thing of the past, it’s the perfect time to bundle up and enjoy the toasty indoor activities that New York City prides itself on. Let’s ‘Warm up with New York’ and rediscover some indoor hidden gems to get us through the winter months ahead.

CORE’s Roxana Rafatjah shares her zen oasis to beat the winter chill.

The high energy of New York City is a large part of what makes it so great, but it can also be draining without a break to decompress. On the rare occasion that I get the opportunity to decompress for a couple hours and escape the cold of winter, there is nothing that rejuvenates my body and mind better than soaking in a warm salt water bath after the steam room and then plunging into an ice cold pool at Aire Ancient Baths. It’s so invigorating!

An old textile factory since 1883, Aire Ancient Baths in Tribeca opened in 2012 as what might be the most beautifully designed, relaxing oasis in the entire city. It is truly a special experience stretching in the warmth between the pools with dim candle light and music that sounds like monks are singing. My lack of yoga skills is quite apparent I’m sure, but I feel the zen while getting a good sweat and stretch among the peaceful ambiance.

As we are transitioning into spring I will definitely be treating myself to more yoga, massages and baths at this gorgeous sanctuary. After relieving muscle tension and clearing the mind, I’m always recharged, more focused and ready to hit the world full force again!
