Ten: Patrick Lilly on Evolution, Inspiration and Inner Peace

Welcome to Ten, CORE founder and CEO Shaun Osher’s rapid-fire interview series with prominent CORE figures. Read on to find out how this week’s subject deals with being in the hot seat.

Patrick Lilly is a real estate powerhouse not only widely known in New York City, but throughout the nation. He has built not only a successful business as the leader and figurehead of The Patrick Lilly Team, but a fan following among the real estate convention and motivational speaking circuits. How does he manage do juggle it all? Here are Patrick’s answers to Ten questions:

Patrick Lilly

1) What did you do before you found this career?

Prior to real estate sales, I was a tennis instructor, a bouncer for the Village People, and a bartender (while getting an MBA at NYU).

2) What has been the highlight of your career?

Recently, I received the Pinnacle Award from Keller Williams which honors the 20 best real estate agents in the nation based on productivity, consistency and innovation and I got to speak at their Mega-Agent Conference to over 10,000 agents in attendance…it was a blast!

3) What is your greatest daily challenge?

Taking time for myself.

4) Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Selling real estate, motivational speaking, and traveling. I really do not envision retiring, I enjoy my work and passions.

5) Where do you find inspiration?

I make sure I continue to grow by attending real estate conferences where I am able to speak to, network with and learn from from the best in the business. I also enjoy expanding who I am by doing extensive inner work and nourishing my soul with daily practices, spending weekends at my magical home upstate and extensive world travel.

6) Name one thing we might not know about you.

I am an avid women’s college basketball fan. I follow the UConn Huskies and have been to four final fours.

7) What’s your favorite movie or book?

I can be such a nerd. I read The Lord of the Rings seven times throughout my teens and 20’s.

8) What do you do in your free time?

Chill.

9) What’s your favorite restaurant?

My family grew up outside of Baltimore and my brother, sister, nieces, nephews and our friends return each Easter for a crab fest at Bo Brooks on the Harbor in Fells Point. Nothing is better than hard shell crabs with those you love.

10) Tell me something about your home.

My home in the City is in a doorman, loft building with views of City Hall. It has high ceilings, a very modernist and fun sensibility that I like to call “ZenZoo’: its all about white furniture, spiritual references and fun animal art. Best of all, every express train along with the Brooklyn Bridge and the FDR are five minutes from my front door. My home upstate in Ulster County is a small 1918 stone house on 7 acres, built by an amazing stone mason immigrant from Italy. It is at the convergence of the foothills of the Catskills and the Hudson Valley. It is my little piece of heaven.
