It’s an extraordinary feeling to view the work of someone we admire, up close. Last night we had the privilege of celebrating the collaboration of Robert A.M. Stern with Remains Lighting over cocktails. Having previously partnered with the incredibly talented Robert A.M. Stern on One Museum Mile, we knew that his work would be nothing short of perfection–and we couldn’t have been more right.
The collection was comprised of a variety of classical and contemporary pieces ranging from lanterns to wall sconces to mounted-ceiling lights. The pinnacle pieces of the collection were none other than the striking four-arm and six-arm Janus chandeliers comprised of floating planes of glass suspended from slender brass armatures by traditional hand-twisted chandelier wire.
But beyond the delightful chit-chat of friends and fans alike, stood a beaming visionary overlooking his well-received creations. It was the ultimate feel-good moment listening to the seeming surprise and delight he felt having such a crowd enjoying the collection. With regard to the impressive turnout at the event, Stern stated, “It proves that people in New York will go to the opening of an envelope.” And with that it was clear that this man is both talented and humble, making us respect him all the more.
