Fall in Love with Golf & Apples

Uncategorized // Nov 24, 2015

As summer weekend getaways fade into sweet memories, it’s the perfect time to plan a stay-cation with all of the incredible things this city has to offer. Let’s ‘Fall in Love with New York’ all over again – as if that’s hard to do.

CORE’s Matthew Cohen shares his across the bridge must-dos for the season.

Fall is my favorite season in New York City for so many different reasons. The foliage, fall museum exhibitions, Halloween, the crisp air, Thanksgiving, Central Park, the list goes on and on. The best city in the world really shines during the fall season. My two favorite fall activities might not be directly in the city, but are both a quick car ride outside.

My first favorite fall activity would have to be golf. I belong to a course 10 minutes from my apartment on the Upper West Side. Travel just over the George Washington Bridge to find me playing golf as much as I can during the fall season. Rain or shine, there is nothing better than getting a round of 18 holes in before sundown with a pumpkin latte or ale, but most of all without any humidity.

My second favorite fall activity is a half hour hop, skip and a jump to the country side of New York for some apple picking. Skip your weekly therapist, and let your mind escape everything. It is hard not to be relaxed on an orchard farm with outside noise from the world, fall foliage at its best, the rolling mountains and the crisp sound of biting into that perfectly ripe apple. One important thing to note about my two favorite fall activities is that they can both be enjoyed with someone you are close with. Both golfing and apple picking are my two favorite fall activities that I love to experience with the two most important people in my life: my parents. My mother and father might not be the best golfers or apple pickers in the world, but their loving company makes these two activities my favorite during the fall season.
