Bus Roots: Green Roofs On Top of Buses

Bus-Roots-A-Green-Habitat-On-Bus-1

Designer Marco Castro Cosio has created “Bus Roots”, a public project that designs and customizes green roof systems for buses. Much like green roofs and vertical gardens, Bus Roots is said to increase green living in cities with limited space, like NYC, by growing gardens on top of the numerous buses traveling around cities. Cosio said that the project is a way to “[reconnect] urban communities with nature in a practical and playful way”. BioBus is the first hub for the Bus Roots green roof and we have no doubt that it will generate a lot of attention. According to Cosio, if he was to grow a garden on the roof of all the MTA buses, 4,500 to be exact, it would be equivalent in size to four Bryant Parks! Now that is something that we would like to see! Check out more about Bus Roots here.
