On Tuesday night, legendary singer/songwriter Carole King was awarded The Gershwin Prize for “Popular Song” by President Barack Obama at the Library of Congress. The two-day celebration concluded at The White House and included a cavalcade of starry musical performances, moving personal tributes and a host of celebrities from the worlds of entertainment and, of course, politics. Here, Mickey Conlon and I share a joyful moment with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi as we toasted the honoree, whose extraordinary songbook includes such hits as “Will You Love Me Tomorrow?,” “I Feel The Earth Move,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” and “You’ve Got A Friend.”
