Ten: Talking Real Estate Law and The 90’s with Alyssa Soto Brody

Agent Insight // Sep 24, 2014

Welcome to Ten, CORE founder and CEO Shaun Osher’s rapid-fire interview series with prominent CORE figures. Read on to find out how this week’s subject deals with being on the hot seat.

Born and raised in Miami, FL, Alyssa Soto Brody traveled to Manhattan to pursue a career in the city’s fast-paced real estate industry. With experience working in real estate law prior to joining CORE, Alyssa is no stranger to hard work. Here are Alyssa’s answers to Ten questions:

Alyssa Soto Brody TEN

1. What did you do before you found this career?
I attended New York Law School, where I focused my studies in real estate transactions and litigation.

2. What has been the highlight of your career?
Selling a unit at 173 Perry Street was definitely an exciting point in my career. It was my second deal ever, and after showing the buyer 52 units in total, we finally settled on the property.

3. What is your greatest daily challenge?
My greatest daily challenge would probably be keeping my eye on the long-term goals and not sweating the small stuff. In an industry where your hard work can take months if not years to pay off, there are days where it’s easy to feel defeated. This industry is very competitive and it is a non-stop grind, so I always have to remind myself that I am fortunate to be doing what I love, even if you don’t reap the rewards right away.

4. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
First and foremost, healthy and still happily married to my wonderful husband Eric. I envision myself juggling motherhood and a successful career in real estate. I would also like to be recognized as an industry expert and perhaps make it to the list of the top brokers in the country, such as Emily Beare and many of my other colleagues here at CORE.

5. Where do you find inspiration?
In this city, every single day when I step outside I feel inspired because Manhattan has a constant thriving energy that is absolutely incredible. I’m also constantly inspired by my husband, my mother and my wonderful colleagues.

6. Name one thing we might not know about you.
I was born with my two bottom teeth fully exposed and developed, which meant that my permanent teeth were not going to grow in until I was about 7. Between that time, I wore a retainer with two little veneers so that I wouldn’t feel different around my classmates. To this day, I’m now super conscious about my smile!

7. What’s your favorite movie or book?
I am a 90’s kid, so my favorite movies include Cruel Intentions, Clueless and Mean Girls. I’m also a big fan of the entire Disney Princess movie collection, especially The Little Mermaid.

8. What do you do in your free time?
I don’t tend to have much free time, but when I do I enjoy playing with my French Bulldog Bentley, running along the West Side Highway and walking around the city with my husband looking at the surrounding architecture.

9. What’s your favorite restaurant.
Going out to eat is one of my favorite past times. I love a lot of restaurants in the city, but my “go to” is The Palm in Midtown. They offer great service and amazing food, especially their filet.

10. Tell me something about your home.
I am from Miami, so I need to be close to the water. We live on 11th Avenue, so we have an amazing view of the river which reminds me of my hometown.
