Welcome to Ten, CORE founder and CEO Shaun Osher’s rapid-fire interview series with prominent CORE figures. Read on to find out how this week’s subject deals with being on the hot seat.
New to CORE but not to real estate, Steve Snider’s in-depth knowledge of the market far surpasses the conventional boundaries of many of today’s agents. Over the years, Steve’s skill set has expanded to all aspects of the market, allowing him to work seamlessly along each stage of the real estate transaction process. Still, Steve’s number one commitment is to his family. Here are Steve’s answers to Ten questions:
1. What did you do before you found this career?
I have been in real estate for more than 15 years, but I took a five-year break in 2005 and worked with a United States-based non-profit in Mozambique. I was the program director for an organization that led an initiative to build and develop a national poultry industry. Under my direction, the industry grew more than 200% and as a result, now employs over 40,000 people and is responsible for more than 4% of the nation’s GDP.
2. What has been the highlight of your career?
I would say entering the New York City market and having relatively quick success with 41 transactions in my first 12 months as an agent. I proved to myself that I could succeed in a very competitive environment.
3. What is your greatest daily challenge?
Juggling my time between my personal, professional, and family life. With 4 kids, my time is always stretched to the limits. Coupled with a demanding real estate career and enjoying time with my girlfriend, my days are very, very full.
4. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself as a top-producing agent in New York City which will afford me the opportunity to travel internationally more often. I also hope to continue to engage with sustainable business development opportunities in developing countries.
5. Where do you find inspiration?
My faith, my kids and my girlfriend. I try to keep what’s important in perspective.
6. Name one thing we might not know about you.
I have not eaten a tomato since the 4th grade.
7. What’s your favorite movie or book?
8. What do you do in your free time?
If I’m not with my kids (sensing a theme?) I love to walk the City. I can spend hours walking mile after mile. I love discovering and exploring new niches every day.
9. What’s your favorite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant is Bill’s Bar and Burger in the Meatpacking District. It’s always good and they are one of the few hamburger places that actually has my favorite topping – peanut butter.
10. Tell me something about your home.
It has a very comfortable bed that I crash into at the end of my exhausting days.
