Selling New York Epilogue: Five Things You Didn’t See

Top CORE agent, Tom Postilio, is at it again in this week’s episode of Selling New York – this time with an “easy bake oven” dilemma on his hands. The apartment hunters were returning clients of Tom’s, so the pressure was on for him to work his magic and find them a home with both a kitchen fit for a top chef as well as one with suitable outdoor space. Continue reading for some exclusive information on what happened after the cameras stopped rolling and what didn’t make it into this episode!

1) Tom’s buyers saw about two dozen apartments over a six month period before finding their dream home in Chelsea.

2) Viewers got to see an apartment with not one, but two terraces, so when asking Tom about the rarity of finding a nice terrace in Manhattan with a $1.5M budget, he explained that it is definitely not impossible; it just raises the bar for a broker in terms of criteria.

3) Viewers watched as Tom worked with a Chef client who was in search of a home with the perfect kitchen. The quote of the episode happened when a listing’s kitchen wasn’t up to snuff, and Tom’s client referred to the stove as an “easy bake oven.” While Tom got a good laugh this, he understood that each buyer has different wants and needs and that a nice kitchen would be the make or break factor of this particular sale. Tom mentioned that if Sal wasn’t satisfied after seeing several homes with different kitchen options, that he would continue the search until the job was done and his buyer’s expectations were met. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” Tom stated during our conversation after the episode.

4) Some other great features of the apartment that we didn’t get a chance to see were the property’s washer/dryer and its two full bathrooms.

5) Since HGTV wants each episode to look seasonally ambiguous, Tom will never wear a coat while shooting a Selling New York scene, even if it is the dead of winter. When asked about what viewers did not see on last night’s episode, Tom shared that he was absolutely freezing and shivering during every outside scene.

Tom and his repeat clients still keep in touch. They absolutely love their new home, with its terraces and anything-but-standard kitchen, all thanks to Tom’s extraordinary efforts.
