One of New York’s best qualities is its unique and varied neighborhoods. ‘Life in’ provides a taste of New York City’s distinct sub-cultures to help you find the perfect place to call home.

Considered one of the coolest zip codes in New York, 11201 represents the center and pulse of all things Brooklyn. Anchored by DUMBO and Vinegar Hill to the north, Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill to the south and Brooklyn Heights to the West, 11201 boasts beautiful townhouses, sleek new developments and one of Brooklyn’s favorite parks: Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Favored by locals and visitors alike due to its proximity to Manhattan, 11201 is teeming with a mix of recent graduates, young professionals and families. Home to Deborah Kass’s recently famed ‘OY/YO’ sculpture, the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and CORE’s newest office, the area offers an easy mix of booming new developments and some of the city’s hottest dinner and drink spots.

For an easy morning brew, stop into Blue Bottle for a classic drip or pop in to Almondine Bakery for a cappuccino and a pastry. When the weekend rolls along be sure to enjoy some of Brooklyn’s best brunches at Colonie or Vinegar House.

No matter the day, take on one of the area’s many fitness centers: Equinox, CrossFit DUMBO, Xtend Barre Brooklyn or Orangetheory Fitness. If a little fun in the sun is more your speed, enjoy a walk or run along the Brooklyn Bridge or Brooklyn Heights Promenade.

Stop for lunch at local lobster haven Luke’s Lobster for the ultimate sandwich. Or pop into cult favorite Grimaldi’s for a slice or two, or three. Just make sure you leave room for Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory.

Enjoy an afternoon of leisure and culture at St. Ann’s Warehouse for cutting edge theatre performances or the New York Transit Museum for some history of NYC’s public transit. Unwind with some retail therapy along Smith Street and Montague Street. And maybe even an afternoon cocktail in the back patio of June Wine Bar.

After a busy day about town, treat your tastebuds to a variety of cuisines at dining hotspots Verde on Smith or Gran Electra. And if you’re lucky enough to snag a windowside table, savour sunset and a magnificent view at The River Cafe. There really is nothing like the skyline at dusk on a crystal clear evening.

But before you call it a night, hop over to Brooklyn Heights Wine Bar + Kitchen or Clover Club for after dinner drinks and classic cocktails with a twist. Take the long way home along the water’s edge to bask in magic that is 11201. And remember, you can repeat it all again tomorrow.
