One of Manhattan’s best qualities is its unique and varied neighborhoods. ‘Life in’ provides a taste of New York City’s distinct sub-cultures to help you find the perfect place to call home.

Considered one of Manhattan’s most up-and-coming zip codes, 10001 is an eclectic mix of the ever vibrant west side. Anchored by Manhattan’s new power player Hell’s Kitchen to the north, always hip Chelsea to the south, quaint NoMad to the east and America’s biggest real estate project to the west, 10001 is quickly becoming the most sought after real estate in the city. Rightfully deemed the coolest part of the west side, 10001 is filled with creative types and young families surrounded by mid-nineteenth-century brick and brownstone townhouses and newly renovated high rises. Home to CORE’s corner condominium, The Onyx Chelsea, and NoMad‘s 241 Fifth Avenue, the increasingly popular area also boasts art galleries, trendy hotels and restaurants galore.

Whether you’re brunching after a long night of fun or rushing to work mid-week, popping into Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Co is likely to be the best decision of your day. Made famous by their exotic cream cheese flavor of the week, it’s hard to resist this carb fest. For those that are more of the cup of joe to-go kind, drop into the highly regarded Stumptown Coffee Roaster inside the Ace Hotel. If you weren’t awake before, you will be after one steamy cup from this local favorite. And if you’ve got some leisure time to kill in the morning, head over to The Highline before the midday and afternoon crowds settle in. Take in the breathtaking views of the Hudson River juxtaposed perfectly with the hustle-bustle of commuters on 10th Avenue from this oasis up above.

Enjoy an afternoon at some of Manhattan’s most notable art galleries sprawled among what is considered the art headquarters of the city: 10th and 11th Avenue. With a mix of current and vintage art and photography, and a spattering of sculptural, interactive exhibits, there really is something for everyone.

Beat the post work rush and break an early evening sweat at Warrior Fitness Bootcamp or Blink Fitness. Freshen up for a relaxed, but still trendy dining experience at Ilili or The NoMad Restaurant. And if the weather allows, beeline over to 230 Fifth for rooftop cocktails overlooking the Empire State Building and other skyline staples. But if a low-key rooftop experience is more your thing, head west to Gallow Green in the McKittrick Hotel for chic cocktails among an urban garden.

They say some things are better left unsaid. But when you live like this, it’s hard not to shout about it from the rooftops.
