This past Thursday, brokers, potential buyers and residents gathered on One Museum Mile’s roof to celebrate the new season in style with the Harlem Blues & Jazz Band. Sales team member Tom Postilio welcomed guests to this soulful celebration noting that the building is now over 40% closed and in contract.

Attendees sampled the best in gourmet comfort food with bites from The Culinistas and some seriously decadent hot cocoa from Godiva. Guests were invited to tour One Museum Mile’s model residences and amenity spaces, where seeing the sun set from an apartment overlooking the park was a special treat.

As the sun went down over Central Park last night, the music was just getting turned up atop 1280 Fifth Avenue, where the Harlem Blues & Jazz Band was playing for guests on the rooftop terrace of One Museum Mile. The event was a kick-off celebration for the fall sales season at the luxury condominium building, which is now 40% sold and in-contract. We’ll have more details on the event and the latest news on the building next week, but for now we wanted to give you a glimpse of this legendary band of musicians, which first formed in 1973. And for those curious about One Museum Mile, there’s an open house this weekend from 12-3pm on Saturday, and 1:30-4:30pm on Sunday.

While everyone loves sprawling, multi-million dollar apartments, sometimes a smaller pad is in order. These three studios offer less space, but no less style, than their more expensive counterparts. Perfect for young professionals or beleaguered commuters looking for a break, these three flats are places to be proud of, without breaking the bank.

“Water views” in New York City real estate don’t necessarily need to signify a pair of rivers. Check out the view from the One Museum Mile rooftop of Central Park’s Harlem Meer, the man-made lake (”Meer” is Dutch for “lake”) designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. Last night One Museum Mile hosted members of the press for a “Discover Our Neighborhood” panel discussion, followed by a reception at star chef Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster restaurant. Of course, some attendees took some time to admire the views, like New York Daily News real estate reporter Gina Pace, who tweeted the above photo (along with some others). For more tweets and photos, check out the One Museum Mile Twitter page.

There’s nothing like a scorching 95-degree summer day to give you pool envy, and seeing the above photo of the rooftop swimming pool at One Museum Mile has us in a downright swoon. The photo was recently posted on the One Museum Mile Facebook page when the private pool opened for the season, and the Central Park-overlooking oasis is not the only reason the building is getting noticed. Following up his CORE Talks interview in which he discussed the building’s design in detail, architect Robert A.M. Stern just sat down with the New York Times for a wide-ranging interview about his career. Says Stern, “I don’t see architecture as being about autobiography. I see it more as an art of portrait painting. Portraits of places, institutions.” Read on for more insight from the legendary architect.
