What makes a person really tick? Just ask their real estate broker. People share everything with their brokers — their hopes, dreams, likes, dislikes, wants, desires and, of course, their financials. In fact, you could argue there’s no one more qualified to pair a single person up with the perfect mate than that person’s house hunter. With that in mind, and with Valentine’s Day approaching, CORE Managing Director Vickey Barron is setting out to prove that home truly is where the heart is. The Real Deal reports that Barron has teamed up with professional matchmaker Samantha Daniels for an event called “Love and Real Estate.” The invitation-only event, held at Barron’s listing at 256 West 10th Street, will include a group of her single clients as well as some of Daniels’. It’s not as crazy as it sounds.

Barron told TRD:

“I get to know buyers and sellers from working with them for three to six months,” she said. “So many of them are busy young professionals and [divorcees.] They’re all great and I just thought it would be great to put them all in a room together. I bring people and places together for a living, so what’s the difference between people and places and people and people?“

Who says business and pleasure can’t mix?

Even in seen-it-all New York, submarine doors, antique pulleys and large Technicolor zeppelins are not what we would call standard apartment décor, which is why the one new CORE listing sure to catch everyone’s eye is the second-floor apartment at 120 West 29th Street. And we’re showing it off!

This unique Chelsea 2-bed/2-bath co-op listed by Parul Brahmbhatt is such an attention-grabber that the New York Post and Curbed NY discovered it mere moments after it launched on the CORE website. Curbed loved the “neon steampunk aesthetic,” and for those scratching their heads, “steampunk” refers to the blending of 19th century Victorian style with modern gadgetry and science-fiction elements. Steampunk has spawned an entire sub-genre of fashion and art, and what better venue to showcase some of those creations than 120 West 29th Street? Dr. Grymm has already RSVP’d, but please note, there is limited dirigible parking available on West 29th Street.

What could make a building with a 34-foot-high stainless steel daisy planted on its rooftop stand out even more? How about fire breathers, models covered in body paint and a performance by some world-famous musicians? That was the scene last month on top of 305W16, the new residential condop developed by Centaur Properties and marketed by CORE. Located on the cusp of Chelsea and the Meatpacking District, 305W16 made a splashy debut befitting these vibrant New York City neighborhoods. But enough talk. Check out the video above to get a taste of 305W16’s fun and artsy spirit, and click here to see what’s still available in the building.
