Bio
Michael Garr is founder of Garr & Co., a successful boutique, luxury real estate firm in New York, which was acquired by CORE in September 2009. Michael also is the Developer and Co-Designer of 119 Chambers, a high-end 12,000-SF condominium loft development in TriBeCa’s historical district, which sold out in seven weeks. Michael has been selling NYC residential real estate for 14 years and has sold over 300 million dollars in real estate from Central Park South to prime TriBeCa. He is quoted in The New York Times, The Real Deal, featured in the New York Post and Brokers Weekly and has appeared on the popular HGTV show Selling New York. Michael Garr is the Resident Broker Specialist for The Chelsea Mercantile, he was senior sales agent for the project in 1999,has lived in the building for 10 years, and completed 68 transactions in the building since 2000, including 4 sales in 2010, and broken many, many sells records over the years. With his vast knowledge and experience to guide both buyers and sellers, Michael will listen to your needs, inform you of your options and produce superior results. Client service is his focus.
But it is the unsolicited notes and hand-written letters that complete the bigger picture of Michael’s work ethic:
"He truly embodies the best attributes of a professional realtor… detailed-oriented, did not waste our time, went above and beyond meeting us at the apartment, the closing and in between. He followed every request, question, and even located specific goods and services in the neighborhood. We feel we have made a friend, not just a professional relationship."
"Thank you so much for your efforts on my behalf in the sale of my apartment. The transaction was far more successful (lucrative) than I expected. Equally important, it was far easier and more pleasant than I expected. I had resigned myself to dealing with the stereotypical New York real estate broker; however, you were the antithesis of that stereotype. For me, you made the process no-stress and completely manageable. Please let me know if you ever need a recommendation for anyone. I would recommend you unreservedly."
Michael studied at Parson’s School of Design in the Environmental Design Program and attended Circle in the Square School of Performing Arts. Michael is on the board of Ascension Outreach at 5th Avenue and 11th Street, which provides services to those in need in Greenwich Village, a member of the Real Estate Board of New York, participates in fundraising for many causes and is an supporter of the Human Rights Campaign, amfAR, GMHC and The Actors Fund of America.
